916 - Future Imperfect

Future Imperfect

Words.
Utilitarian mercenaries
Of deceit.

Actions
The loud exclamations
Of awareness.

The active and passive
Construction
Of a life sentence
Past and present.

Ah, but patterns—
Words upon words,
Actions upon actions,
With patterns
I can see
The future.

    'The active and passive
    Construction
    Of a life sentence
    Past and present.'

  3. Love your third line (and the whole poem). So passionate. So true. So very telling...

  4. Oh, how I love poems that play with and ON language! Chuckling because this seems something good to share with my daughter when we work on her grammar homework -- although I'm sure the larger meaning would escape her at 8. :-) Thanks for sharing!
