LIV - Not eccentric, just off-centre.

.

One Minute Writer had a topic called "Nuts".
"In what way are you a little (or more than a little) crazy?"

Not eccentric, just off-centre.

A concept that does not well serve
Is normality, as shown by the bell curve.

The sensible folk, this curve puts between
Two standard deviations from the mean.

The rest are outliers, eccentrics and defected
Who are either feared, or worshiped, or elected.

I take umbrage at this, hurt and slandered:
My deviations are unique, far from standard.

True, I have faults but, withhold your smirks!
They are the essence of me; I love my quirks!

And I proudly declare, upright and formal,
If everyone was like me, I’d be quite normal.

and my own off topic alert:

    young mutton smirked at hutton
    who was contemplating wee button
wondering if he'd need to pay a fee
for favors that were once free ...

    young mutton leaped with joy
cause she had found her own new toy
in the form of a young buck ..
who proofed to be a studly good f...

  6. As my daughter once told me, 'normal is vastly overrated.' I don't think she really knew what it meant when she said it, but she was right. I should hate for you to be 'normal', as you're lovely just the way you are.

  7. my sincere apologies. bad choice of words. i knew it as soon as i hit the "publish" button. i meant that you consistently turn out these pieces. every. day. amazing. something to aspire to.
we cant all be wordsmiths. some of us have to be content to read and put out the odd (crappy) comment.

  9. "Slandered/standard..." really, Cosmo, the elegance of your rhyming truly sets your work apart. Have you always been such a crazy, clever lad? Or have Mrs. Newbery and Dame Pinot made you that way?

Why is there no tome of J. Cosmo verse at Amazon.com? There should be, you know. It would eclipse the work of your namesake. Viticulture For Victoria?? Tsk, tsk. Come, now.

  10. No, my writing predates Mrs N and possibly the Pinot.

The is a book of letters about but not of the poems. The letters relate to me teasing Nigerian conmen are an acquired taste. You can get a look at them on-line here.
