CCLXXXVII - Naked Yoga

.Mad Kane has a post on nude yoga.
The idea struck a chord....

A man who tried yoga, sans clothes
Joined the women, as they practiced in rows.
But his member tended
To be “The Cobra” extended
Regardless of the position he chose.

◊◊◊

An octogenarian tried yoga in the raw
And did “The Cobra” as never before.
While she deserved our respect
It lost its effect
As her breasts were still on the floor.

◊◊◊

When she did yoga wearing only her skin,
Her husband could do nothing but grin.
While her contorted position
Suggested coition,
He could't see how to get in.

◊◊◊

He found her without animation:
She’d died naked, in a yoga figuration.
Rather than hide her
He lacquered and dried her,
To use as a table decoration.

CCLXXXVI - The Company Man

Sung to the tune of Monty Python's Lumberjack Song.
Any resemblance to anyone living or dead is purely coincidental.
As is often the case, this poem did not end up where it was heading when it started out.

The Company Man.
Middle Manager
I’m a Company Man and a cliché,
I play the game and I bank my pay.

Typist's Chorus
He’s a Company Man and a cliché,
He plays the game and he banks his pay.

Middle Manager
I write emails.  I wear a suit.
I sport the company tie.
I always agree with my manager
And never question why.

Typist's Chorus
He writes emails.  He wears a suit.
He sports the company tie.
He always agrees with his manager
And never questions why.

Middle Manager
I write emails.  I criticize.
I claim the moral heights.
I love to rattle cages
Then sit and watch the fights.

Typist's Chorus
He writes emails.  He criticizes.
He claims the moral heights.
He loves to rattle cages
Then sit and watch the fights.

Middle Manager
I write emails.  I check Facebook.
I gossip with my mates.
I listen to the typists
Discuss their weekend dates.

Typist's Chorus
He write emails.  He checks Facebook.
He gossip with his mates.
He listens to the typists
Discuss our weekend dates. [Doubts in their voices…]

Middle Manager
I write emails.  I offer help.
I give advice for free
I feel it kindly guidance
And then they turned on me.

Typist's Chorus
He wrote emails.  He crossed the line.
He said we were not slim
He then ogled at our cleavage
That’s why we turned on him.

He wrote emails.  He crossed the line.
He never should have done it.
We cornered him one afternoon
And the heartless bastard won it.

We cornered him one after-n-o-o-o-o-n
And the heartless bastard won it.

CCLXXXV - A girl who was very uptight.

.Mad Kane has a regular limerick challenge.
She provides the first line, the rest is up to us.

A girl who was very uptight
When her boyfriend asked if he might,
With the utmost of care,
Fondle her sweet pair,
Found the feeling to be a delight.

CCLXXXIV - Reflections in a Park

James Rainsford, writing at dVerse, offered the above photo as a prompt.

Reflections in a Park

With firm steps and confident strides
We walk to the beat of the civilized drum;
Feigning control of that which still resides
In the base of what we have now become.

There are two halves to the modern man
Not left and right but the old and the new.
It you venture back to where it began,
You’ll find we’re exhibits, in a common zoo.

Society, as a whole, gets quite distressed
When a member acts in a manner, dire,
But there is a fact that’s seldom addressed:
We are all just animals, in formal attire.

And so we walk through life’s temporal park,
Two creatures, travelling side by side.
The light side ever trying to rein in the dark,
The social Jekyll to evolution’s Mr Hyde.

CCLXXXIII - Sunrise

A rondeau, for things that come around.

Sunrise.

The sun will rise to start the day,
Night time demons will fade away,
Despite a want to stay and fight
To block you from the hopeful light.
Night emerges through shades of grey
While devils dance a wild ballet,
But past this monochrome display,
Despite the darkness of the night,
The sun will rise.

Our doubts are voices of dismay:
Purveyors of a drab buffet,
Of fear and hurt, of pain and spite:
It’s easy to believe they’re right.
But despite all that they may say:
The sun will rise.

CCLXXXII - A Shock

For those of you who are either alarmed or excited,
please note that this is just a bit of poetic nonsense.

A guy gave his wife quite a shock
When he appeared one day, in a frock.
The effect was made worse
By high heels and a purse
And a bust line built with a sock.

CCLXXXI - In Bed The Kiss.

.

Writer's Digest has a set of prompts, one of which was
"In Bed The Kiss" by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

The poetic form I have used is the quatern,
where the first line cascades down through the next three verses.

In Bed The Kiss

In bed, the kiss, the warm embrace
Provides the lovers with a place,
A place to meet as kindred souls:
Simple pleasures and common goals.

Sensual rewards of the chase:
In bed, the kiss, the warm embrace.
Who chased who is of small import
When both are willing in the sport.

The world can be a place of grey:
Cold and barren, advanced decay.
In bed, the kiss, the warm embrace
Removes them in both time and space.

Skin on skin and in arms entwined;
Hopes and passions closely aligned.
These are pleasures they can’t replace:
In bed, the kiss, the warm embrace

CCLXXX - Just the Tonic

.

.Mad Kane has a regular limerick challenge.
She provides the first line, the rest is up to us.
.

A girl who was partial to gin
Would later explain, with chagrin,
"I think it's the ice,
Or maybe the lime slice,
That puts my poor head in a spin.
