600 : Flights of Fancy

“I always wonder why birds choose to stay in the same place
when they can fly anywhere on the earth,
then I ask myself the same question.”
― Harun Yahya

Three Word Wednesday requires participants
to use the three words of the week in a composition.
The words this week were Distinct, Irrational, Sullen

Flights of Fancy

I should know better.
No, more correctly,
I do know better.
But I can't help myself.

I suppose that makes it irrational;
To know something but deny it,
To do or feel the opposite,
But that's the way it is.

I want to leave this place,
No, no discarding mortal coils,
Just a distinct dislike of where I am;
A deep need to move on.

I feel remote,
As if watching from above:
Detached and disconnected,
Wrapped in a sullen, sodden blanket
That dampens the spirit
And extinguishes all hope.
The days are grey and joyless,
Interspersed with false smiles
And fake assurances.

It is very depressing.
But I am not a tree,
I can move.

  2. My mind worked that way the whole of last year!! But my flight of fancy didn't work out and I am still here and absolutely loving it too!! Now there is stillness in my heart and peace in my sanctuary!!

  3. Well...follow your own advice...you can; as you wrote...you're not a tree...you can move! And remember, also, trees can be swayed.

    I think a bottle of good red wine might be on the list for the weekend! Sip and enjoy. :)

  4. Ouch. Sadly, I know that sodding sullen sodden blanket well.

  5. It gets harder as you get older, then you find your feet have taken root.

  6. You have wings...use them. You can do anything you want to. Life is for living and change is a big part of that.Have a relaxing weekend and plan your next adventure. Spring is almost here..You will feel more positive when you leave the grey and joyless fug.
