956 - Creating a row.

Haiku Horizons prompt “row”.
An ambiguous sort of word.

Creating a row.

Corn grows in a row;
A house sits on the prairie.
It’s outwardly calm.

It is not easy—
Being sick, lonely, dying…
A hard row to hoe.

The desire to scream.
A primal sort of response—
To row with the gods.

“Don’t create a row,
It will alarm the neighbours!”
Tears fall quietly.

  3. Poignant.
Perhaps it is upbringing, but I suspect I will go quietly into that good night.

  9. I do love your play with "row" here -- but what I love more is how poignant & tender this is, especially the last words..

  14. So many creative expressions for the word row. Each one stands alone yet I feel the connection with the whole. Fantastic writing

  15. does it still hold the record? rows, rows, rose, roes, heck, i don't even remember most of them, but at one time, i think it held some sort of record for same spelling and or same sound.
    I dunno...maybe.
cool bit, though. You sure earned your golden pen!
