CCLXXVI - I'm Not Normally Like This.

.
 Sunday Scribblings had the topic "Normal"
It was a few weeks ago - I'm a slow writer.

I’m not normally like this.

“Weirdo! You’re not normal!”
Said to insult, or trying to.
But is normality really
Something worth aspiring to?

How dull would life be
If everyone were the same?
Uniformity and conformity:
Normality by another name.

If we were all the same
Would anyone ever miss us?
If we had no defining features
Would anybody kiss us?

I’m sitting on the grass
Surrounded by colour and noise;
But is it the very same garden
If seen though another’s eyes?

We are all so very different
In both open and subtle ways;
Even identical twins
Will have their separate traits.

But the plain and undeniable truth,
Presented clear and formal:
If everyone was just like me
I’d be considered normal.

  1. Fortunately I do not think I know anyone who approaches normalacy.

  2. I REALLY like this. "If everyone were like me, I'd be considered normal." That made me smile this morning. I guess 'normal' depends on who you hang with. LOL.

  5. Great! What is normal...

    "We are all different!""I'm not!" are my fav. lines (from the movie "The life of Brian")

  8. Love it! And I agree -- normal is nothing I'd ever aspire to. :)

    Also, congratulations on winning an Honorable Mention in last week's Limerick-Off! Limerick of the Week 46

  9. So true! Whenever someone calls me strange (which is quite often, actually!) I take it as a compliment!

  10. So true - life would be utterly dull if we all fell into the so-called "normal"

    It's our quirks of personality that makes us richly unique and who wouldn't rather be unique than "normal"?

  11. I'M NORMAL!
    no, you're not...
    I AM TOO!
    you're a sot...
    But, I THINK!
    vaguely and in circles
    But, i thought.
    never once without my guiddance, nary a moment of truth came from your lips but that I puth the thought there...
    ...but, who ARE "you"?
    I AM your computer...I will say your label and you will be as I said...

    click

    blink

    (me thinks they should put MORE off buttons on computers, as well as those who say our labels)

    d=^))

  14. That would be exhausting, everyone like me: I'd have to be constantly reinventing myself. I just don't have the time.

    Everyone: as you were....
