CCXL - The Question

Magpie Tales had the above painting as a prompt.

The Question

Life is rewarding, have no doubt:
Fortune favours the brave.
With trembling voice the words came out.
Would she give him what he craved?

“You want what?” she cried aghast,
“We hardly even kissed!
There are many things I’d do if asked
But that’s not on my list!”

“On this I must be very firm:
Your head is full of rocks.
Life is far too short a term
To spend it darning socks.”

  1. Well done, again :) Best I've seen so far from this pic...loved it :)

  2. Very good dear J Cosmo but darning socks is such a killer of romance when the lady had much more interesting pursuits on her mind.
    xoxoxo ♡

  3. She's meant for better things, like cooking a good meal, I would think!

  4. I like her attitude better than his at this point at least.

  5. LOL, terrific.

    I like her.

  6. Yep ... you go girl!!

  7. Oh this was wonderful. Poetry has the language of surprise, it is said. Your ending definitely surprised. Loved it.

  8. Excellent response to the prompt!

  9. Ha! You got me! You know it must be an older picture, as today's women (and men) have no clue how to darn socks!

You've come this far - thank you.
Take your time, look around,
There is lots to see.
