dVerse has the prompt ‘Missing You’.
Missing You
I’m missing you.
Your loving eyes
Your hair,
Your smell.
My pleasure lies
In that you are not far away
And, in your absence,
Will loyally stay,
Biding my time
And improvise.
To follow you
Would be unwise,
Your return
Will be my sole reprise
All that goes to explain
The way I’m missing you.
In your absence
A small part dies
And black clouds
Cover up the skies
The world becomes
A sodden grey
Which only adds to my dismay
That false bravado can’t disguise
I'm missing you.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure whoever you're missing is missing you too :)
ReplyDeleteWoof! Woof!
ReplyDeleteaww this is lovely..you really made his thoughts visible...dogs are the most loyal creatures...wonderfully penned...and look at those eyes...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely poem - I wonder if this is what dogs feel.
ReplyDeleteAwww, such a sweet and beautiful poem for someone you are missing.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of dog is so appropriate too, faithful, patiently waiting, those big eyes just waiting to see the face of its owner.
xoxoxo ♡
This is beautiful !!!
ReplyDeletesmiles....there is a really nice rhythm to this...and all the color leaving or just not the same with them gone....yeah i feel that...and love me some pups...
ReplyDeleteVery touching! I am not sure if it is written about a dog or a person, but it doesn't matter. The sentiments could be the same. I could see this poem as a song. I hear a guitar strumming.
ReplyDeleteThe world does become grey when we miss the ones we love. relate to this completely. Very touching poem- thank you for sharing - stu mcp
ReplyDeleteTough guys with false bravado miss our pets (but damn it man, don't publish it!)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful... the last stanzas are more beautiful!
ReplyDeletemissing you, perfectly conveyed
ReplyDeleteBeautifully captured...specially this part:
ReplyDeleteIn your absence
A small part dies
And black clouds
Cover up the skies
Happy week ~
aww.
ReplyDeleteI knew you would resurface eventually...lol. And how lovely it is to see that vulnerable side come out in this one.
ReplyDeleteThe message is keen and clear. The rhyme scheme, just right. Strong write to which anyone connected to a loving creature will relate.
ReplyDeleteOh that photo ! those eyes! Wonderful poem about missing someone. You nailed it.
ReplyDeleteIf someone could find the antidote for 'missing you', he would be a billionaire.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely, lovely. Really lovely.
ReplyDeleteCos, anyone who truly looks into the eyes of a dog cannot say they don't have souls. And when you lose any soul in your life, you do lose, as Janis sang, "another little piece of my heart." It's clear you are writing from experience, and as a former dog owner who longs for a lapful of unconditional love someday, I can only say, I feel for you. Peace, Amy
