The Martini
Some gin, with a dash of vermouth,
Gives an air of being so couth.
It just reeks upper-class
In its conical glass,
But tastes bloody awful, in truth.
Gives an air of being so couth.
It just reeks upper-class
In its conical glass,
But tastes bloody awful, in truth.

I could not agree with you more!
ReplyDeleteIt does taste bloody awful. However, have you ever had a chocolate martini made with vodka? Yumm! And I know real martini drinkers don't consider that a martini.
ReplyDeleteJust before I wrote that, we had a small earthquake. So, shaken not stirred this time, Mr Bond.
ReplyDeletecosmo, you beat me to the pun line!
ReplyDeletegin and vermouth - ughhh.
once had a wild night drinking lemon drop martinis..... vodka and lemon? all i remember is that they were YUMMM!

I had to hire a sleuth
ReplyDeleteTo find another youth
To be as so uncouth
As you, it is the truth
LOL! I'll have to drink a martini one of these days.
ReplyDeleteMartinoonies are the drinks of kings!
ReplyDeleteOr "colortinis" as Tom Snyder used to remark.
ReplyDeleteBut I think he matched the drink with some smoke -- if you know what I mean?
Haven't developed a taste for gin? Well, no matter. I rather enjoy it, with bitter lemon, particularly.
ReplyDeleteI am puzzled, though, that you're always drinking doubles. That may be the problem. Try a single martinus, sometime. Might taste better.
That said, single malt Scotch is to be preferred.
