CCCLXXVII - Seconds

.

dVerse has a prompt about 'first times'.
I took a slightly obtuse slant to it:

The Second Time

I’m told you remember your first time,
Though some memories are easier to store,
But the test of the first time experience
Is whether you returned for more.

Many experiences are spontaneous,
Where opportunity seductively beckoned.
Everything can be engaged for a first time
But it’s the nice ones that are given a second.

  3. I like this a lot. It has some really nice logic and sensibility built in here. The test of the first is whether you come back for seconds, such a great line that easily could be the summating line that many poets use within their work. Very nicely done. Thanks

  4. Risqué, and brilliant, as usual. A poem about chemistry, so to speak.

  5. Very true. If there's a second, more likely the first time is remembered well too. :)

  6. But the test of the first time experience
Is whether you returned for some more....ha..true that...first time experiences stick in our mind..good or bad and they're the base we build our second times on..if we do..

  9. I like how your framed these lines:

Everything can engaged for a first time
But it’s the nice ones that are given a second.

Come to think of it, everything can be a first time (if its enjoyable) ~

  11. It's true isn't it - though sometimes I find I'm not even sure if I like something so have to go back and try it again just to see... I was like that with anchovies for years and now I love them!
