Freedom
Freedom
Is a relative thing,
And, rather than displayed,
The bars
That seem to hold us in
Are,
Overall,
Self-made.
These rods,
A gift
From meddling gods,
Begin
To melt
And fall away,
As we embrace
The coming spring
And shun
The winter’s grey.

Oh, to be as free as Jonathan...oh to be able to soar as high as Jonathan...untethered...
ReplyDeleteI think that is a dove, not a seagull, but I like the sentiments. Certainly, if we leave the drab shrub dwellers behind, we can fly freer.
DeleteLeave no tern unstoned.
DeleteAnd shun the fowl-mouthed?
DeleteI love the rhyme and rhythm of this... and the truth found here... so often we build our own prison... I love the hopeful note it ends on.
DeleteIt is a matter of deciding oneself, to be in or not to be! The barrier can be easily knocked away with that resolve by oneself. Truly said Cosmo!
ReplyDeleteHank
right on, sing it! love this. very true.
ReplyDeletethe dove futters its wings to celebrate its freedom from the strings in heaven or tethers from the ground.
ReplyDeletelovely expression

I agree, and enjoy how you lined the relativity of self made freedom and the hope of spring.
