CCLXXXIII - Sunrise

A rondeau, for things that come around.

Sunrise.

The sun will rise to start the day,
Night time demons will fade away,
Despite a want to stay and fight
To block you from the hopeful light.
Night emerges through shades of grey
While devils dance a wild ballet,
But past this monochrome display,
Despite the darkness of the night,
The sun will rise.

Our doubts are voices of dismay:
Purveyors of a drab buffet,
Of fear and hurt, of pain and spite:
It’s easy to believe they’re right.
But despite all that they may say:
The sun will rise.

  2. Sometimes in dark times it is hard to believe that the light will come again, but eventually it does.

  6. There's comfort in that, J Cosmo. (though I bet those demons just can't wait for the sunset to come again)

  9. Lets hope.
It is those nighttime demons which need lighting out.

  10. Many thoughts and moods appear so different at night time, and in daylight, and those night time demons are sometimes hard to fight off. They are a bit like the norwegian trolls, they turn to stone when sunlight hits them :-) Wonderful writing!
