Odd Loose Ends
(Tune : Auld Lang Syne)
The year is coming to a close,
It’s time to make amends;
Time to bring some order to
The odd loose ends.
Chorus:
The odd loose ends must go, I fear,
The odd loose ends;
We’ll take the trimming shears
To odd loose ends.
Life is better when it’s neat,
Trimmed of what offends,
The first things you must offload are
The odd loose ends.
Chorus.
The camel knew than the single straw
Gives a back that bends,
They build up upon each other,
The odd loose ends.
Chorus.
Acquaintances are both well and fine
But nothing beats good friends,
Make more room by discarding
The odd loose ends.
Chorus.
New projects will bring you joy,
With happy dividends,
Close the book on lost causes
And odd loose ends.
Chorus.

Ahhhh I really want to hear you sing this! My loose ends could definitely use some trimming, thanks for the reminder. Though I do think a bit of mess is a good thing. :) Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteNo. You do not really want to hear me sing this. HNY to you too.
Delete"Close the book on lost causes
ReplyDeleteAnd odd loose ends." Good advice. I'm with Marian about hearing this song.
Is there a masochistic virus running through the poetry community?
DeleteBeautifully written dear Cosmo, I would like to hear you sing this too.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year dear friend, I hope it is good and kind to you!
xoxoxo ♡
Dianne! You too? And I thought you were so sensible too. HNY to you; may it be a very happy one for you.
Delete2015 was a difficult year, I hope your optimism for the future plays out in a more peaceful and prosperous year to come.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you.
Me too. Thank you.
DeleteWonderful, Cosmo! I especially love the wise camel!
ReplyDeleteCould a camel be otherwise?
DeleteHow true it is. Sadly I fear I only have loose ends...
ReplyDeleteTime to knit up the unravelled sleeve of care!
DeleteHappy New Year to you and yours, Cosmo...take good care. :)
ReplyDeleteThat book of lost causes comes in many thick volumes, I think.
It feels good to set them free though! Do it!
Deleteoh those odd loose ends, go they must, but they're so clingy and it feels like 2015 has left us with more odd loose ends than normal... let's hope they can be swept up somewhat! happy new year
ReplyDelete2016 certainly has the potential for a lot of things to unravel. Best tidy the decks now...
DeleteSometimes you must shut doors because they go nowhere. Others have multi-tentacled monsters behind them and should be locked and abandoned. This can be done with grace but draw the line and leave.
ReplyDeleteSettle accounts and go?
DeleteIf only we could tidy up all the loose ends in life. Your words encourage me to try.
