Sunny Morning
Breaking old habits.
Have you ever woken and found
That what had hung over you,
That what had clung onto you,
Had disappeared in the night?
You’ll like it if you do.
It’s not so much delight,
It’s more a sort of relief,
An absence of the angst and grief
That darkened life around—
Missed,
Have you ever woken and found
That what had hung over you,
That what had clung onto you,
Had disappeared in the night?
You’ll like it if you do.
It’s not so much delight,
It’s more a sort of relief,
An absence of the angst and grief
That darkened life around—
Missed,
The way you don’t miss a thief.

I live in hope. At the moment the things which hang over me gain weight and mass overnight.
ReplyDeleteDeath and taxes, seems they will be hanging over me and clinging to me whatever
ReplyDeleteI do.
Delightful! I'm glad I stopped by this morning to bear witness to the missing thief (if such a thing is possible).
ReplyDeleteIt is always good to find that what hung over one in the night is washed away in the light of day. Relief indeed.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! A great feeling indeed.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling. The lifting of that weight. Lovely to read you, Cosmo.
ReplyDeleteIt has happened... usually because my misery thrives in darkness and dies in daylight.
ReplyDeletei can relate to the feeling!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great feeling to lose a worry. Even better than losing weight.
ReplyDeleteLike a miracle we disn't know we needed.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! and hopeful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a unique 'take' on gratitude. A wonderfully penned little piece.
