CDLXXVII - Snakes in the Grass

Three Word Wednesday requires participants
to use the three words of the week in a composition.
The words this week were careful, hug and mistake.

A limerick, of sorts.

Snakes in the Grass

It can be a grievous mistake
To hug a bad tempered snake;
If you're not very careful
Your mates will spin their bull
To console your wife at your wake.

  1. Very amusing limerick - I like! Careful with the meter though - it gets jerky from line four. A flowing, consistent meter is essential when limericking.

    1. Granted, it doesn't really have the right rhythm. The night is late, I will fiddle with it tomorrow. Thanks.

    2. Nah. Changed my mind. Let it slip into obscurity.

  3. Would anyone prefer to hug a cane toad?

    No, I didn't think so.

  4. And if you are so foolish as to hug a snake - your wife is better off without you. No bull.

You've come this far - thank you.
Take your time, look around,
There is lots to see.
