CDLXXXIX - Fault Lines

Imaginary Garden with Real Toads had the topic 'Cracked'.

I'm a bit late for the topic but I got there eventually.

Fault Lines

Heaven holds no allure for me,
All sweet and pure and bright;
Containing everything I’d wished,
If wishes can be right.

See—there’s the rub in this for me—
It’s flaws that give delight.
Imperfections should be cherished,
Not tossed into the night.

They are the drivers of all change:
Big things grow from the small,
As grit will give an oyster cause
To make a pearly ball.

When considered, it isn’t strange
That faults should so enthrall:
It is because of nature’s flaws
That we are here at all.

  1. So true. It's the cracks that let the light in, as Leonard Cohen puts it...

  3. Nice take on this-the fault lines that build character through to those that drive change.

    1. Well, I can hardly argue for perfection from my base so best to make a virtue of faults! :-)

  5. The more grit, the bigger the pearl. It's good grit and does no harm:)Gosh, you should be careful- you might turn into a saint! Happy Easter and enjoy the holiday break!

  6. You have managed to resist Hot Cross buns this long. What ever other faults you may have, lack of will power is not one of them.

  8. "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
    But in ourselves."

Yet our imperfections do sometimes provoke us, sometimes discourage us, sometimes drive us (a bit) crazy.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

  9. Oh well done!

"Imperfections should be cherished," Amen to that!

Wouldn't life be boring if we were all perfect...?
