Drama Queen
(to the tune of Dancing Queen - Abba)
You can flounce, you can pout, always having your nose put out,
See that show, watch that scene, mocking the poor Drama Queen.
Every night and the swoons are fake
Looking for some offence to take
It doesn’t matter what they say, interpret it the other way,
You come to create an affray
Anyone can cop that flack
If they don’t protect their back
With a few mocking words, sarcastic too
You have your sights upon your prey
With any sense they will slip away…
You’re the Drama Queen, ruddy faced, like a tangerine
Drama Queen, feel the heat of your venting spleen,
You can flounce, you can pout, always having your nose put out,
See that show, watch that scene, mocking the poor Drama Queen.
You’re a teaser, then turn on them
Leave them stinging with your venom
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You have your sights upon your prey
With any sense they will slip away…
You’re the Drama Queen, ruddy faced, like a tangerine
Drama Queen, feel the heat of your venting spleen,
You can flounce, you can pout, always having your nose put out,
See that show, watch that scene, mocking the poor Drama Queen.

And how I wish they would fade...
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteok, I faded. what now?
You tell me. They say that you should never ask a question unless you already know the answer.
DeletePerhaps [swoon] would be better?
DeleteAnyone in particular in mind? What's next? Voulez vous? Waterloo?
ReplyDeleteTake a Chance on Me.
DeleteHa. That face like tangerine provides a sign of warning... Oh no, I stay away.
ReplyDeleteThe whole point was to ensure the audience got the point. We have come to think of it more of someone spoiled trying to get attention. Nowadays we hide with embarrassment!
ReplyDeletedrama queens, they won;t leave any stone unturned to gain attention
ReplyDeleteCan you have a Drama King? Just putting the question out there, you understand.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Abba could imagine that many words but they can carry a tune...particularly liked singing 'Drama Queen, feel the heat of your venting spleen'... :)
ReplyDeleteImpossible to read while the original song is blaring inside your head... enjoyed this :)
ReplyDeleteYou’re the Drama Queen, ruddy faced, like a tangerine
ReplyDeleteDrama Queen, feel the heat of your venting spleen,
You can flounce, you can pout, always having your nose put out,
This made me smile..! There are such drama queens everywhere sticking their nose up for some attention!
Drama Queens are great strategists and they usually get what they want. If they don't they'll move on to get fresh victims. Fading away is the last option. Great write Cosmo!
ReplyDeleteHank
Hank, I think you just nailed it.
Deletesuch a negative spirit ought to fade forever....great lines :)
ReplyDeleteThis should be a song.
ReplyDeleteAre you paying attention at the back of the class?
DeleteMay the rule of the 'drama queen' be a short one!
ReplyDeleteGreat lines dear Cosmo, no-one likes a 'drama queen'.
ReplyDeletexoxoxo ♡
literal lol from. Also save me from drama Queens, as well as Kings.
ReplyDeleteInteresting song/take--one that both mocks and admires the powers of the drama queen.
ReplyDeleteHa. I have known more than my fair share of these,
ReplyDeleteonline and otherwise,
give me a guitar and I will pluck along as you sing.
The "venting spleen" is so very vividly descriptive!! And, definitely dramatic.
ReplyDeleteI was singing right along and laughing as I could envision many I know....yes fade away please! Wonderful poem....thoroughly enjoyed this!
ReplyDeleteWow, so well written I wanted to flee away from her. Cant imagine being like that. You wrote her in a highly entertaining way, Cosmo!
ReplyDeleteIn this age of reality TV, there's always at least one drama queen. Maybe the producers wanted the audience to hate someone.
ReplyDeleteDrama queens, for me, are full of insecurities. Nice play with the Abba song.
It was fun to sing it. I know her and will now think of her whenever I chance to hear the song. Hopefully not too often, lol,
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
Awesome!

haha - drama queens best to stay away I think..they are crafty that is for sure..Drama Queen from New Orleans..why does that come to mind????
ReplyDeleteLOL i enjoyed this rhyming piece
ReplyDeletemuch love...
Oh this is so good! Enjoyed it but now it's stuck in my head.
ReplyDeleteSorry. I wrote it to get it out of mine.
DeleteI particularly love, 'ruddy faced, like a tangerine'. Can't cope with drama queens myself; I always think life has enough real dramas without having to manufacture any.
ReplyDeleteDrama is creating something tragic out of nothing. Well captured.
ReplyDeleteInsecure personality with roots in too caring parents...who will replace them now.....result - drama queens/kings, imbalanced and unhappy...~ cool take on 'Abba' !
