967 - Defensive Positions

Three Word Wednesday requires participants
to use the three words of the week in a composition.
The words this week are:

hateful, incorrigible and gaping.

Defensive Positions

Incorrigible,
That’s what they have called me—
For telling ‘Dad jokes’.

Jokes let me escape
From the harsh realities
Of a hateful world.

That dark, gaping void
Between what the world presents
And what it should be.

And so I tell jokes.
If that upsets some people—
They can call me names.

  1. Faced with laughter or tears, I don't have to think hard before making my choice. And look better laughing too.

  5. We all need comic relief - and perhaps the greatest accomplishment is to be able to laugh at ourselves, as well as with with others. Keep the jokes coming. We are the better for them! :-)

  6. Laughter is the best medicine for these times, my friend. Such a gap, indeed between here and what the world should be. Getting wider with every news report.

  9. Its all a test of tolerance. You have to be mad about a person to tolerate bad dad jokes. You will know your supporters by those who remain silent stifling a quiet grimace:)
