Sunday Scribblings 2 prompt: Benediction
Friends
A small blessing on a dark night,
A hand to hold until the light.
Such are things that ease the way
As we travel forward through our day:
Amidst the gloom are pools of light,
Which help us to endure our plight
And enjoy instead the simple delight
as a stranger who may nod and say
A small blessing.
Our life can be a constant fight
Against forces who think it quite
Fun to take our rights away.
Push back against merchants of dismay
And treasure friends, hold them tight.
A small blessing.

Especially friends who think alike. Here's to you, friend
ReplyDeleteTo have a hand to hold until the light on a dark night is a great depiction and expression of what a true friend should be.
ReplyDeleteReal friends are as rare as Henrietta Hen's teeth !:)
Our life can be a constant fight
ReplyDeleteAgainst forces who think it quite
Fun to take our rights away
All very true in areas of conflict when the tendency to deprive is real!
Hank
How important friends are for us to treasure as the rest of the world goes mad!
ReplyDeleteFriends should never be taken for granted.
ReplyDeleteFriends are what we all need...
ReplyDeleteAs you say, a small blessing. I Really like the rhyme and flow of your poem.
ReplyDeleteSo true, especially the opening lines and 'treasure friends, hold them tight. / A small blessing.'
