807 - Acceptance

Poets United Midweek Motif ~ Acceptance

Acceptance

Should you?
I mean really?
Do you just accept cruelty
As if it is the right thing to do?
Suck it up, as they say?
Where is the self-worth in that?
When someone tries to impale
A loved one
Like a beetle to a corkboard
With over the top
Underhand
Callous
Words.

Words chosen to hurt,
To wound,
Fatally perhaps.
Words chosen to pierce
The self esteem of the receiver,
The beetle,
Words chosen to win the war
At all costs.
Over-egged.
Theatrical.
Pyrrhic.

Should I accept that?
Accept that it is just
One of those things?
That done is done?
Move on?

I have a problem with that.

  1. What a lovely piece, well done. Greetings!

  2. Nicely written. Just because something was a certain way for so long, doesn't mean that it always has to be that way. The power of change is strong. Great writing!!

  3. This makes one think. The line dividing the acceptable and otheriwse, is not fixed; the edges expand and contract for different persons with different perspectives.

    Superb write. Loved reading it.

  4. Something I also have problems with.
Is accepting cruelty condoning it? Rewarding it? I think it often is.

  5. Words can really do alot of good or so much damage. Indeed, should people just say anything no matter the bruising?

  6. What you're saying is completely true. I know that everybody must say the same thing, but I just think that you put it in a way that everyone can understand. I'm sure you'll reach so many people with what you've got to say.
