514 : The Small Blue Dot

The Earth, circled, as seen from the edge of the solar system.

Poets United has the prompt "A place in the universe"

The Small Blue Dot

The universe is, at first glance,
A rather spacious place;
With no apparent boundaries
And lots of empty space.
There are
Some hundred billion stars,
If you please,
And it was forever thus—
It is the height of arrogance
To think it’s just for us.

  3. A universe so vast that it must have been placed there, I loved your words and that feeling of the infinite.

So true - we are just small blips in the infinity of the universe.

  11. We can be exceedingly arrogant, can we not?

  12. And we will go on thinking so, unless we ever find out otherwise

  13. Cos, you SO nailed it. This appeals to my activist side. It's taken little more than 200 years for Europeans to invade tribal lands, enslave millions, and trash the entire planet, all in the name of the almighty buck.

Your perspective should be observed by, oh, the Heritage Foundation, the Kochs.

Thanks for commenting on Real Toads re: my interview. You are the best, Cos. Peace, Amy
