515 : Muzzled

Muzzled

Complacency makes the risk increased,
We allow our guard to slip.
We ignore the dangers resting there
And trust the lying lips.

We feel
That the risk is no longer real.

Beware the wild animal inflamed,
Beware the mean and vengeful beast
That’s muzzled but not yet tamed.

  1. I read your poems every chance I get but always feel at a loss for words to comment. I suppose I should say I never enjoyed poetry much but you may be changing that. thanks.

  2. Beast and angels reside in our own selves... we need to tame them both..

  4. Yes, so true on many levels. Lots of energy is consumed by vigilance, but that loss must be weighed against the alternative. AN important message in a fun poem.

  9. Cos, this is amazing. Your "beast" can be so many things in this world, including the world itself, which can easily chew up and spit out people who "let their guard down."

Predators are everywhere. Walk with confidence, live in love, and hopefully they will skip you and look for someone who's more vulnerable... sad but true. Amy

  10. nice rhythm to your words...i think there is a tentative balance...i think too many allow the risk to set them to complacency...and while we should be vigilant to be safe...we should not be so safe we dont reach...
