Three Word Wednesday requires participants
to use the three words of the week in a composition.
The words this week are:
meander, nameless, oafish.
The Dark Ages
When trolls meander on the land,
Breaking things as they go;
When the nameless backroom overseers
(Who really rule the show),
Pretend
That they alone defend—
Have fears.
Nothing can be for sure
When the oafish are in command;
No-one can feel secure.

And fear I have. Lots of fear.
ReplyDeleteWe have words at least to light the way
ReplyDeleteHow about "Wrong way! Go back!"
DeleteIt is a political ploy to raise fear in the populace for them to support unwise action that may make matters worse...as we are witnessing now.
ReplyDeletetrolls and backroom overseers...to be able to sway public opinion is real power!
ReplyDeleteYes, this is a comment on today's world! Our security is a thing of the past.
ReplyDeleteI fear what's next to come in our world.
ReplyDeleteAnd trolls DO meander on the land. Great analogy.
ReplyDeleteThat is for sure. No rational minds prevailing any more. All is unhinged.
ReplyDelete" When the oafish are in command" everything is chaos... and screaming. Safety seems like a dream that happened to someone we've never met.
ReplyDeleteClear, concise, and potent. The Dark Ages were so-called because most people were living on a subsistence level, and no real Art was being produced. Let us pray for the Renaissance that followed.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
Well put, in today's world.
ReplyDeletePoignant for so much rich, deeper meaning behind the words and the warning to "have fears."
ReplyDeleteThat last line says it all. Amen!!!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Cleverly worded with clarity ... to pack a well delivered, powerful punch.
ReplyDeleteNothing can be for sure
ReplyDeleteWhen the oafish are in command;
No-one can feel secure.
That will be the day, God forbid! One can only pray that an enlightened soul will do justice to the point of leadership expected of them.
Hank
Oh, I have the fears!
ReplyDeleteI feel that the oafish are in command in many lands right now. These are strange and frightening times.
