The Poet's and Storyteller's prompt is "what delights us".
My favourite Things
(Apologies to Rodgers & Hammerstein.)
All types of cheese and sesame snaps,
Red wine in glasses and crispy lamb flaps.
The ability to silence a telephone's ring—
These are a few of my favourite things
Watching a cat walk, eating cream slices
Uncomplicated electronic devices
Magpies that chortle and choirs that sing—
These are a few of my favourite things
Home made spaghetti and parmesan cheese
A day without pain in either of my knees
Breasts that bounce like jelly on springs—
These are a few of my favourite things
When the soup burns
What the cat brings
When I'm writing bizarre
I simply remember my favourite things—
And pour a glass of Pinot Noir.
◊
Um...are you sure that this is all politically correct?
ReplyDeletePolitics is broken, if I am correct.
ReplyDeleteMore correctly political than politically correct, i suspect.
DeleteSmiling. Though I prefer Merlot to Pinot Noir - which spoils the rhyme.

DeleteWhen I'm writing on the go
I simply remember my favourite things—
Good sharp cheese and a glass of Merlot.
Oh, how delightful! And you got the rhythm and rhyming down perfectly.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favourite things.
DeleteYes, can't imagine liking things that don't rhyme so perfectly well :) :)!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI do like oranges but the rhyme...!
DeleteI hope you enjoyed your tipple - your poem certainly is full of cheer!
ReplyDeleteA video of you singing the musical version of this would be a treat:)Go on make some old sheilas with sagging tits happy :)

DeleteAt JCN's age and decrepitude, the only breast he will meet up with will be chicken.
DeleteI'm an old sheila with sagging things, and I AM happy.

Your closing lines tie it all together with wit, reminding us that even in life’s mishaps, there’s always room for a little indulgence and laughter. How delightful!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite things:
Campari on ice and sketching my friends,
Bright, sunny mornings that never quite end.
Laughter that lifts me, the colours of spring -
These are a few of my favourite things.
Blooming flowers, sharing, and days free of pain,
Sunlight that sparkles on windows and rain.
A brush in my hand to see what it brings -
These are a few of my favourite things.
When I feel low,
When time just stings,
I think of these joys,
And my spirit sings.
Nicely done.
DeleteWell played!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, you made me sing ~ out loud to your 'lyrics.' Bravo and Cheers!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother song winner! I love this!
