The Sunday Whirl presents twelve words for us to use in a creative writing piece.
This weeks words are:
sighs, fire, flip, ravaged, blue, floor, emerge, mask, ashes, soak, skin, weave
On the other hand…
"We suffer more often in imagination than in reality"
-- Seneca
Objectively, we have emotions, feelings.
Subjectively, masks often emerge to hide them.
Objectively, when learning new things, we make mistakes.
Subjectively, we wish the floor to open up and swallow us.
Objectively, we have been soaked to the skin,
Subjectively, we respond with a flood of tears.
Objectively, we have been robbed.
Subjectively, we feel violated and ravaged.
Objectively, we tried but didn’t win.
Subjectively, second place, our mouth tastes of ashes.
Objectively, we are retrenched for economic reasons.
Subjectively, we have been fired and judged as wanting.
Objectively, we are left out of the team.
Subjectively, we are disappointed, we sigh, feel blue.
Objectively, someone tooted us on the road.
Subjectively, we flip the bird and disparage their parentage.
Objectively, life happens.
Subjectively, we weave meaning to it.

Hmmm. And most of us spend much more time in subjective mode. Food for thought here - thank you.
ReplyDeleteA nice repeating pattern and excellent final refrain. I must admit to Stoicism inspiring a lot of my poetry. Well done.
ReplyDeleteOh Seneca, with the timeless nature of his wisdom…
ReplyDeleteSubjectivity is where love, empathy, and connection truly live. Emotions are not just filters over facts; they are expressions of who we are and what we value. It’s the 'soul's canvas painted with emotion's brush'!
Objectively: “Optimal cardiac function with normal ejection fraction and no valvular or coronary artery disease”.
Subjectively: ‘When your heart’s beyond repair…’
Objectively: “The human brain relies on objective processes of logic, evidence, and rational analysis to make informed decisions”.
Subjectively: “Heart over Mind” (at least for me).
“Objectively, life happens. Subjectively, we weave meaning to it”. Subjectivity - that’s where the beauty lies. Without that subjective weaving, life’s events would be sterile, disconnected from the love, hope, kindness and warmth that make us feel alive.
Enjoyed reading and thinking about Objectivity Vs Subjectivity! Thank you
Yes. Objectively: it is raining. Subjective 1: Isn't it a horrible day! Subjective 2; Yay, I don't have to water the garden.
DeleteThank you for your comments. (Subjectively)
