Three Word Wednesday requires participants
to use the three words of the week in a composition.
The words this week are:winnow, abashed, and blind.
Harvest
Life is a harvest:
Keep the valuable crops,
Winnow out the chaff.
◊
We can be so blind—
Blind to the manipulations,
Blind to what matters.
◊
Don’t be abashed:
Stand in guard of your farmland,
Nobody else will.
◊
You reap what you sow,
Folk treat you as you let them.
Plant your crops wisely.

Some sombre truths here.
ReplyDeleteThese are biblical in tone. Enjoyed them. Each could imspire a poem
ReplyDelete1. If you are lucky you could be left standing with one orchid stem.
It all depends on the perception of valuable.
2. Well who isn't blind when it comes to matters of the heart. I challenge anyone to beat me on this one.Miraculously I still have a good functioning brain when it comes to media propaganda .
3.Absolutely... armed with machetes scythes and gardening rakes.
4.A tricky one. You do not always reap what you sow. I know good people who had a whole lot of dung dropped on them and they didnt do anything to deserve it. I dont believe you can be completely wise about planting crops..not unless you are doing a scientific study...a few people left on the planet have still not overcome the human condition yet.
You are not completely right about the folk treatment one either. If you have to put food on the table you have to grin and bear poor treatment from your employer. Not everyone ( hardly anyone) can afford to give them the third finger salute thrusting them aside as they walk out the door. In personal relationsips I do concur. Although one may find they end up with a lot of solitude time so they need to develop solitary pursuits...writing poetry for example:)
