A slightly modified Mark Haley photo.
The Mag provided the above picture as a prompt.
The Hill
Life is seldom black and white,
And seldom cut and dried;
Trudging slowly up life’s hill
We see others lying to the side
And swear!
Why, we ask, is life unfair?
But still—
Examination will find
They have their own fights to fight,
And daunting hills to climb.

Insightful and wise little ditty! Every one has a struggle in life to a greater or lesser degree and of course the more exposure we have to people who really do have serious problems makes our own seem negligible.
ReplyDeleteYes, as a rule, we all tend to magnify our own woes and dismiss those of others.
Delete'Oh Dahhhling, I know EXACTLY how you feel. When that happened to me I...I...I...I...(fades)
DeleteHey Cossie, isn't your most pressing problem locating the cork screw?
DeleteTo each his own. One fights one's own battles so the saying goes. Nicely Cosmo!
ReplyDeleteHank
We all fight our own battles, n'est pas? Thanks Hank.
DeleteI seem to fight Don Quixote's battles.
DeleteAlways walk a mile in someone else's shoes...
ReplyDeleteAnd give them back, of course. We all prefer our own moccasins.
DeleteThat reminds me, when are you going to return my bunny slippers?
DeleteSo true we all have our own battles and we can't judge someone's insides by their outsides.
ReplyDeleteAnd still, we do. Thanks Laurie.
DeleteAnd how true it is. Ducks all look serene on the water - and out of sight their legs are going like the clappers...
ReplyDeleteGives the bottom feeders a laugh though!
Delete"And is the road uphill all the way?" as a famous author wrote! Guess you've answered the question. LOL
ReplyDeleteNo. But usually because we have stopped at a wayside to admire the view and catch our breath.
DeleteI agree. We all have our own set of "daunting hills" to climb and also, the moments when we question the 'fairness' of Life. Great poem. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteHumans have an innate sense that life should be fair, that it all evens out in the end. Sadly this is not true. No evenness, no retribution at teh pearly gates. Just unfairness and struggle. Uneven struggle.
Delete....sublime ev-ry mountain....
ReplyDeleteMagnificent! poetry....awesome!
ReplyDeleteSorry Jerry, the hills are alive with the clowns with moustaches.
ReplyDeleteHey! I represent that remark!
ReplyDeleteFor all my flippant comments, you are right of course.
ReplyDeleteI'll quote you on that, you know!
DeleteThis is life.. a steady Sisyphean climb.. some make it.. others done. wonderfully done.
ReplyDeletewe each have our own battles surely that we must face...
ReplyDeletei dont know that we have to face them alone though
but true, not all will make it...
Well, as long as they don't look like Julie Andrews...
ReplyDeleteSchweinhundt! Haben sie no respeckt?
ReplyDeleteWe do indeed have our own battles and hills to climb ~ Life is not always fair ~
ReplyDeleteyes, you can never be sure what another is going through...and should not judge unless we know
ReplyDeleteYes, the grass is always greener... Whenever I feel those green tongues of envy slashing at me, I tell myself I do not know what other people are going through.
ReplyDeleteHill was my maiden name...and I think it was that that made me look at life in black and white, more than grey.
ReplyDeleteyep... good one, JCN
ReplyDeleteTrue dat.
ReplyDelete=)
Humans I guess, have this habit of being always thinking what they not have rather than appreciating what they have.
