Theme Thursday has the prompt 'Destination'.
Illusions
Destinations are a mirage,
Forever out of reach.
Some say Death’s a destination,
But usually folk that preach.
So, why
Do people even try?
But on they go,
Boldly, and intend,
With their temporal entourage,
To find the rainbow’s end.

I think it is because we need a direction so we head for sometimes the impossible or impractical. Great write!
ReplyDeleteVery deep meaning...
ReplyDeleteI think there are many destinations that are out of reach for so many of us. Luckily we make it to some other destinations and hopefully these prove to be enough to make us happy but you are correct in that death is one destination that many of us hope it takes forever to reach. It is strange in that is one destination we all share but wish we did not.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing a destination poem with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. I hope your weekend is full of destinations that are reachable.
God bless.
I like this. It has an attitude of "in your face" but a meaning of "there's always more, folks." Cool.
ReplyDelete“Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp,
Or what's a heaven for?”
― Robert Browning, Men and Women and Other Poems
Gorgeous piece!
ReplyDeleteWonderful poetry.

Cool Cosmo, but since I'm stuck on this planet for a while, I might as well entertain myself with a bit of striving. But lordy, don't preach to me, Eh?
